MUSIC & DANCE
Many Tunisian songs and dances are traditional ones. Much Arabic music is played and listened to in Tunisia. Malouf, a kind of Spanish music, is also played in Tunisia. It is played with violins, drums, lutes and sitars.
Arabic Music
Dancing in a Muslim country like Tunisia is viewed differently than in other countries. Some Muslims feel dance should not be done at all - that it is sinful. Others feel that folk dancing is fine as long as men and women dance separately. Men and women are not to dance with one another however. |
