Food
The main meal of the day in the Ukraine is lunch, which is served later in the afternoon. This meal begins with chicken noodle soup or borsch, a famous ukrainian soup, which is almost always made with a broth made of beets, potatoes, carrots, spinach and meat. Bread is eaten at every meal of the day.
On special days and Sundays special foods are served.
One of these is varenyky are a kind of stuffed dumpling. Varenyky are made of soft dough filled with cheese, meat, potatoes, or sauerkraut. They are eaten with sour cream. Sometimes they are filled with fruit, like cherries or blueberries and eaten as a desert. Ukrainians drink stewed fruit juices, milk, sour milk, water, tea or coffee with their meals.

Holubtsi (stuffed cabbage) is a dish consisting of cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of fillings such as ground meat, carrots and rice.
Kovbasa is a common type of Ukrainian sausage.
